Measuring innovation is critical. You can't manage what you don't measure. Innovation performance metrics and tools can help companies think systemically about business innovation. Patents and new product introductions have been widely used innovation metrics but there are better measures of success such as: revenue sustainability, increase in knowledge and intellectual property, impact on brand reputation, customer satisfaction and loyalty, price elasticity, even attractiveness as an employer.

For a really thorough round-up on innovation measurement tools, check out the Innovation Management Group discussion on Linkedin: http://linkd.in/RE-innovation

People have to be a cultural fit first and foremost, it is like walking onto a University Campus and feeling right. Open, Candid, Direct, self Starting…all needed skills and assets. Find some key questions in the interview process to answer your needs to fill.

Great quick read Robert. My question surrounds the recruitment of intellectual capacity for innovation. Since the innovative mind can quickly become one of isolation, how is it best to recruit fast followers within the organization?
